The Vivosmart HR is my first fitness tracker/watch. I have a bunch of expensive watches but have not worn them since buying this. My wife bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR (this model) and I was so impressed I bought one a month later. Garmin Connect was a bit challengint to figure out but once set up worked great.Pros: great set of features. Seriously impressive the tech in this little thing. HR seems pretty reliable. GPS works well, especially in conjunction with app on my S8. Battery life exceeds my expectations. Light weight and comfortable on the wrist. The golf app provides me just the info I need (front/back distance to green, distance to layup, etc). Extremely accurate (+/- within one yard of a laser rangefinder). Step counter is spot on. Screen is legible in most lighting conditions. It took awhile to get comfortable using touch screen and buttons, but now it is very intuitive. The screen picks up fingerprints quickly but even after a lot of physical activities, I don’t have noticeable scratches. The plastic body has held up really well and now wearing a metal watch just feels uncomfortably heavy. Downloading new watch faces kept the watch interesting. I can’t type with watch on so I take mine off many times a day. After about a year the little piece on the band broke and I had to order a replacement band. 7$ well spent. That was the only issue. On these characteristics, I would give the watch a 5/5. It really is that good for the price.Cons: My wife swims with her watch fairly often. However, apparently she did so one time too many. Apparently she may have pushed a button while the watch was still wet and the screen only showed lines for a few hours and then… nothing. The pool was only 4 feet at the deepest (a lap pool). I suspected this was a fluke with the watch. It was out of warranty so I tried fixing it after watching some YouTube videos but it is forever ‘pining for the fjords’. Fast forward 6 months: I am swimming and the same result. Screen goes mad and the watch no longer turns on. We had both swam frequently with our watches prior to them dying so I suspect there are only so many times the watch’s seals can stand up to being submerged. For claims regarding water resistant: 1/5Summary: A great watch/fitness tracker while they lasted, but I would not take them into water.
  4. Great product

    100%
Love this watch! Have had mine for 2 years now and I use it every day, no problems. Got this new one for my boyfriend and he loves it too. Battery lasts for about a week or more. Swim with it on all the time. The only flaw is the heart rate monitor doesn’t work the best when you get sweaty.
  5. Great watch!

Great watch works well in all environments. Do add a screen protector though if you're hard on watches like me.
  6. Great until the battery refused to charge

Battery died after a year and it isn’t replaceable. Wouldn’t charge up. Loved the functions when it was working but the value just isn’t there when it lasts only a year
  7. Good

Get a screen protector. I changed band for lightweight material.
  8. Refurbished unit works as new.

Works as advertised, bought it refurbished works great.
  9. Perfect for me after almost two years of wearing

    100%
I have this for two years. Works perfectly fine. Once in a while there may be a sync problem but power cycling of the watch sets it straight. I decided to by this watch as a present now because after spending time of the alternatives I could not find anything close to it even now, never mind way back when I bought one for myself. Waterproof, GPS, Heart monitor, tracking software, battery life (one week with daily 3 mile runs) everything is just fine.
  10. Long term ownership is expensive

    60%
Bottom line up front: Battery problems after 2+ year ownership very bothersome.I’ve owned this watch since February 2015 and in the first two years would have recommended it to my friends and coworkers. However, at 3.5 years of ownership, the battery only stays charged for 1.5 days. This may not seem like such a big deal considering many new smart watches only last about that long out of the box, but I purchased this watch for its 8 day battery life. Now, checking its warranty and repair page, it will cost me $120 to have Garmin replace the battery. I’m fully capable of replacing a battery myself, but I can’t find a battery online to purchase that will fit the watch. So my options are thus: spend half what I originally paid for the watch to get it work as I purchased it, or buy a new watch to replace the old one at current prices.Unsatisfied.
